IEEE SIGHT conducted the “Visual Identity Design in Arabic” workshop across two days. The first session was held online on May 16, 2026, while the second session took place in person on May 18 at the Career Preparation Center at The Hashemite University. The workshop was presented by Eng. Hamza Al-Sayyed, an architect from The Hashemite University.
The workshop aimed to strengthen participants’ creative skills and encourage them to explore professional approaches to visual design. It focused on the importance of visual identity in Arabic design and showed how strong concepts can be developed through thoughtful choices in symbols, colors, typography, and composition.
Participants were introduced to visual identity and its main elements, including logos, symbols, and colors. The session explained the role each element plays in creating a clear and recognizable identity and connected design decisions with the way audiences understand and remember a visual concept.
The workshop explored the history and uses of Arabic typography, with guidance on choosing suitable Arabic fonts for visual identity projects. Participants also discussed how Arabic lettering can be applied creatively while maintaining clarity, balance, and a strong connection to the identity being developed.
Participants reviewed real examples and practical case studies before working on their own design challenge. They were asked to create a complete visual identity for a case study, applying the principles discussed during the workshop. The practical session produced many creative ideas and gave participants an opportunity to turn concepts into visual outcomes.
The two-day workshop connected creative exploration with practical design experience. By focusing on Arabic visual identity and typography, IEEE SIGHT gave participants a foundation for developing more thoughtful, culturally relevant, and professional design concepts.
