IEEE SIGHT at The Hashemite University organized a two-part workshop series to give university students valuable insights into emerging technologies and personal development. The program combined technical learning with practical career guidance, helping participants strengthen both their knowledge and their confidence.
The workshops were delivered in collaboration with the Innovation and Entrepreneurial Projects Center at The Hashemite University for students seeking to expand their technical understanding, plan their professional journeys, and turn personal ambitions into achievable goals.
Eng. Laith Al-Khawaja, a Hashemite University alumnus and the first Chair of the IEEE Student Branch at the university, led an accessible and interactive introduction to the rapidly developing field of artificial intelligence. Thirty attendees explored the current state of AI and the features shaping its continued development.
The session clarified important concepts including machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, and algorithmic bias. An interactive game encouraged participation and reinforced the material, with prizes totaling up to 100 JOD.
Ms. Areej Hanandeh, General Manager and founder of Runnersjo, shared lessons from more than 15 years of experience in marketing. Drawing on her own professional journey, she guided students through the process of defining a career direction, setting meaningful goals, and creating a practical path toward achieving them.
Participants took part in an open dialogue about the challenges they face while planning their futures. The discussion offered actionable strategies for goal setting, balancing academic responsibilities with career exploration, and transforming personal passions into meaningful work experiences.
The workshop series successfully connected technical education with personal and professional development. While the AI workshop strengthened students’ understanding of emerging technologies, the career-planning workshop gave them practical tools to pursue their ambitions with clarity and confidence.
Together, the sessions reflected IEEE SIGHT’s commitment to empowering young people through education, mentorship, collaboration, and direct exposure to experienced professionals.
