SIGHT HU Launches Its First Project: Think in Blocks

On December 16, 2025, IEEE SIGHT at The Hashemite University published its first project, marking a significant achievement for the team. Think in Blocks presents a fun and interactive way to learn technology through a Minecraft server designed to make complex concepts easier to understand and more enjoyable.

About the Minecraft Project

Through the Minecraft server, participants explored logical thinking, decision-making, and basic computational concepts through practical activities. Using Redstone inside the Minecraft environment, students learned how complex systems can be broken down into simpler parts.

The project encouraged creativity, problem-solving, and a deeper interest in technology. One highlighted activity was a fully functional neural network built inside Minecraft, where players could interact with blocks to simulate learning behavior. Another activity analyzed player drawings made from blocks and allowed the system to guess which number each drawing represented.

These examples are only a glimpse of what can be created inside the server. Students can continue exploring machine learning and neural networks through hands-on building, experimentation, and play.

Project Objectives

Think in Blocks was designed to introduce students to technology concepts through simple, engaging, and interactive learning. It combines education with creativity, reaches students of different ages, encourages curiosity and teamwork, and helps participants discover IEEE SIGHT and feel motivated to join the community.

Project Launch and Feedback

To officially launch the project, the team set up a booth at the Faculty of Engineering. The booth attracted strong interest and received very positive feedback from students and visitors.

A superhero and comics theme helped the team connect with people of different ages, including school and university students. The approach made the activity more appealing and accessible, while a learning catalogue gave students a way to explore the project in more detail and join the Minecraft server.
