IEEE SIGHT Technical Summer Camp 24/25
Activity 24 JUN 2025

IEEE SIGHT at The Hashemite University organized a technical summer camp for children in collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs at The Hashemite University. The camp introduced children aged 8 to 13 to the world of technology through engaging, age-appropriate, and interactive learning experiences.

It was designed to spark curiosity in young minds about various STEM fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, and Virtual Reality, while aligning with IEEE SIGHT’s mission to promote technology for the benefit of humanity.

The technical summer camp consisted of four technical sessions, each delivered over a consecutive week and focused on a specific technology. The sessions were conducted between June 24 and July 15, 2025.

Session 1: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence - June 24, 2025

Representatives from HueBot introduced the children to Artificial Intelligence in a simplified format tailored to their age group. Through real-life examples, short demonstrations, and interactive games, the children learned what AI is and how it is used in daily life. The session encouraged critical thinking about how machines learn and make decisions.

Session 2: Robotics - July 1, 2025

The second session, also led by HueBot, focused on the fundamentals of how robots are built and programmed to perform specific tasks. The children interacted directly with real robots, observing how they move, sit, wave, and respond to commands. Hands-on demonstrations helped them explore the connection between programming and movement.

Session 3: Electrical Basics and Circuit Building - July 8, 2025

The children worked with actual electrical boards, resistors, wires, and small motors. Under supervision, they assembled a simple circuit and learned how electricity flows to power different components. The activity strengthened their technical understanding, problem-solving skills, and teamwork.

Session 4: Introduction to Virtual Reality - July 15, 2025

The final session explored Virtual Reality and its applications in education, gaming, and healthcare. The children tried VR headsets and experienced virtual environments, helping them understand how the technology works and its potential to shape the future of innovation.

Conclusion

The IEEE SIGHT Technical Summer Camp successfully engaged young students in STEM education through fun, hands-on, and age-appropriate learning experiences. The collaboration between the Hashemite University Deanship of Student Affairs and HueBot played a crucial role in the camp’s success.

Each session enhanced the participants’ understanding of technology and inspired them to explore future careers in engineering and science. The camp also strengthened IEEE SIGHT’s community outreach efforts and reflected its commitment to promoting technological knowledge and innovation among youth.
